Posted on June 1, 2018 by AnitaMy tips on how to reduce plastic My followers on social media sent me some questions, which I tried my best to answer here. Trigger warning: I’m sitting on a table, not at it. Please don’t watch the below video if that offends you.

I have been following your posts as plastic is a huge concern here in little NZ. I’m particularly disturbed by the amount of disposable nappies going to landfill..as well as pointless packaging in supermarkets. I genuinely applaud you for standing up for what’s right…and that is considering our environment and giving a damp about the future. Arohanui (lots of love) from NZ.
Thank you Emma,
Yes disposable nappies are a huge problem. I will support anyone who tries to fight this important issue too.
Sending my love back to New Zealand. 🙂
Whilst I appreciate your effort & enthusiasm, my reason for not watching your latest video was its length.
Hi Beverley, I need a volunteer to edit it into small vids for me. Do you know anyone who can help me?
Wow Anita! I have recently started following your Facebook and Instagram accounts, but I didn’t realise that you also had a webpage as well! That’s an incredible amount of work to maintain! Congratulations on your continuing campaign against our plastic addiction! There are like minded people out there and convert numbers are growing – I am one of them! So much overuse of plastic is simply terribly BAD HABITS! I have to consciously remind myself many times a day to refuse plastic where ever I can – trying to replace my BAD HABITS with GOOD HABITS. I’m definitely a work in progress and constantly trying to improve where I can! Keep up your awesome work! Well done!
Yes, it is a massive amount of work. And there is so much more going on behind the scenes that no one knows about that takes countless hours. I only recently set up the web site as I am not sure if Facebook will be popular long term. Thank you for your kind words. I too am a work in progress. Every day plastic is forced on us, it is so draining trying to fight it. But fight it we must. Thanks again and lots more cool stuff to come on my pages 🙂 Cheers, Anita
I love and respect your work.
You are doing such a great job in fighting against plastic and getting the message of the effects out there, it’s all about changing people way of thinking! We as a family are concerned about the plastic that ends up in the ocean. My son, who is 6 has always been an animal lover and has always been good at picking up rubbish on our walks, with concerns of it hurting the animals.
I get shocked when I see pics you have posted on individually wrapped produce. It makes me angry!
Thanks for your voice 😁
Anita, you do such a great job. Thank you for your video. Where you sitting on the table? Didn’t notice. 😉
Thanks for watching Simone. Yes I was sitting on a table 🙂
Thanks so much for your support. Please give your little boy a big hug from me 🙂
You are doing such a great job at raising awareness about our plastic problem Anita. Don’t ever give up and you will just continue to gain momentum. You have already changed the views of many and make it easier for people like me to help get the message out there by using your videos and posts to back me up #stoponeuseplastic #refuseplastic
Thanks so much Rahni.
What a motivating comment 🙂
I just finished watching you video and what you said about people not knowing how they are living is so true. I feel like we are living in The Matrix (the movie) and not really living. I work for a global corporation and this month globally they are rolling out “Refuse It if You cannot Reuse It” to cut down on plastic waste. We have a meeting on Wednesday for more education around it so I I’m looking forward to it. Thank you for sharing the truth. God Bless your heart 💓
Thanks so much for watching and for your thoughtful reply and for sharing 🙂
PS: I will share this on our company social media to support the cause

Anita Horan, love this video. It’s both informative as well as inspiring. 💚
Thanks so much Buddy. You have set a great example for me with your tireless work. Cheers, Anita
Wow! I finally got to watch to the end; apologies didn’t get to it before. You were honest and raw and brave, well done you!
i have been following your journey for a couple of years now, from nz. i keep my plastic consumption to an absolute minimum and recycle everything i do get. i love your site and often share to my facebook page to encourage others as well.
Thanks so much Janice. That really means a lot.
Love this video! You’re doing amazing work!!!
Thank you Niki 🙂
This was really informative especially when it comes to the critical issue of plastic consumptions and environmental protection. Thanks again.
Thank you 🙂
Loved your video and all that you do. At first i didn’t think I had time to watch the video in one go, but then I sat down and really enjoyed it. Some really good tips, like using a squeegee in the bathroom to minimise the need for harsh cleaning, and love your honest approach, such as your experience with asking for takeaway food. 😫
Thanks So much Zoe. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch it. So glad I could offer you some fresh tips and share the honesty of how difficult it can be at times. X
